Akamas Peninsula

Akamas peninsula is a nature reserve and protected area of 230 square kilometres of Paphos and is recognised as one of only 22 endemic locations within Europe.

Environmentalists have actively sought to stop a small number of would be developers from building properties on 15% of privately owned land that fall within the boundaries, although it is mostly on the fringes at Innia and Dhrousia areas.

The Cyprus government own 85% of the Akamas Peninsula, they are expected to include it under the ‘Natura 2000’ scheme during 2016, this will ensure the area is recognised as a National Park and therefore a no build zone.
